After my trip to Google Building 44, I headed down to Apple – The Company Store which is located at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA 95014. It is about 15 minutes drive from Google Building 44.

The famous “I visited the mothership” t-shirt is no longer in print, and now the new t-shirt design prints “I visited the Apple campus, but that’s all I’m allowed to say.”

Each t-shirt cost USD$16.95 before tax and most of them are Made in USA.

I visited the Apple campus, but that's all I'm allowed to say.

Google Building 44 is located at 1635 Charleston Road, Mountain View, CA 94043. I rented a car from Hertz and drove there from San Francisco. Took me about an hour to drive from SF.

When I went reached there, I noticed some snow on the ground and I thought it doesn’t snow there and indeed it doesn’t. Those are artificial snow that Google made for the Christmas season. Too bad I missed the whole white snow part as when I am there, most of it has already melted.

Android Version History (From Wikipedia):
Since April 2009, each Android version has been developed under a codename based on a dessert item. These versions have released in alphabetical order: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich. The pre-release versions of Android were dubbed Astro and Bender, but these names could not ultimately be used for trademark reasons.

  • Cupcake (v1.5) (30th April 2009)
  • Donut (v1.6) (15th September 2009)
  • Eclair (v2.0/2.1) (26th October 2009/12th January 2010)
  • Froyo (v2.2) (20th May 2010)
  • Gingerbread (v2.3) (6th December 2010)
  • Honeycomb (v3.x) (22th February 2011)
  • Ice Cream Sandwich (v4.x) (19th October 2011)
  • Jelly Bean (v5.x) (TBA)

Got the Garmin Nuvi 1390LMT (Amazon Link) from RadioShack (938 Market Street, San Francisco). Is hard to find electronics store around San Francisco and RadioShack is the nearest to my hotel (Chancellor Hotel!

The guy who attended to me was super helpful (I think in US, the service is generally good) and he recommended me the Garmin Nuvi 1390LMT as it comes with Lifetime Map Updates and Lifetime Traffic.

It boost a 4.3″ screen and has microSD expansion (for maps) as well as Bluetooth support for hands-free calling capability.

I paid USD$129.99 (SGD$168.28) and after tax is USD$141.04 (SGD$182.59).

I have been using it to navigate to Google HQ, Apple Company Store, Monterey Bay Aquarium and Ventura Beach and it is serving me very well!

On the 20th December 2011, SingTel launches the first LTE service in Singapore and it is available to both consumer and business users. The new LTE service will initially be available for USB dongle modems only. It will be enhanced to support LTE-enabled smartphones and tablets when they become more readily available in the market.

The new LTE Broadband on Mobile (BBOM) plan is called Mobile Prestige 75.

Broadband on Mobile Prestige 75 Price Plan

  • Price (including GST): SGD$69.90/month
  • Data Bundle: 50GB 3G data (21Mbps) + 10GB LTE data
  • Excess Charges: SGD$0.512/MB, Capped at SGD$94.16/month
  • Download Speed: 75Mbps (Theoretical), 3.4Mbps to 12Mbps (Typical)
  • Comes with free LTE dongle and free Wireless@SG (3Mbps)

Notes

  • Users can expect 3.4Mbps to 12Mbps speeds more than 80% of the time in areas of coverage. Speeds and user experience are dependent on factors such as the user’s location from base stations, the number of users in the area, the mobile devices used, as well as the response of websites accessed. Users may also experience slower speeds indoors where mobile signals are blocked by walls and structures.
  • Three times faster than dongle-based 21Mbps 3G mobile broadband service. Network latency will vary depending on the location of the web servers accessed by the user. 80% lower latency was measured for Singapore-based servers.
