| Some 126 companies representing more than US$ 500 billion in annual turnover have signed up to Partnering Against Corruption Principles for Countering Bribery, from the World Economic Forum Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI). "If we can get a truly critical mass of companies engaged in PACI and practicing these principles, there’s no doubt in my mind that we can make significant progress in the fight against bribery," said Alan Boeckmann, Chairman and CEO, Fluor Corporation, and PACI board member. |

The World Economic Forum will release The Global Competitiveness Report 2007-2008
on 31 October. The Report will include The Global Competitiveness Index
featuring the 12 pillars of competitiveness, The Business Competitiveness Index
, detailed country profiles and data tables covering more than 100 social and economic indicators. The rankings are drawn from publicly available hard data and the results of an annual survey conducted together with the Forum's network of Partner Institutes in the countries covered by the Report. This year, over 11,000 business leaders were polled in a record 131 economies worldwide. |

| The World Economic Forum on the Middle East will return to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt on 17 to 19 May 2008. Preparations for the Meeting got under way this week when Rachid M. Rachid, Egypt's Minister of Trade and Industry, and André Schneider, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the World Economic Forum met in Cairo to sign an understanding that will bring the Forum to Egypt for the second time. |
