Can anybody who can see my BlogRush widget down at the bottom right please speak up? Looks like its gone, that’s what I get for telling people how to cheat the system!
If there’s a blog out there that you don’t like that is currently running BlogRush then simply use one of the cheating tactics pointing at your targeted blog and have them struck of the BlogRush system. I didn’t see a warning or anything like that so it must be very straight forward to get people’s blogs banned. Now if I catch the little bugger that has done it to me…..

Sounds like a scam doesn’t it? It’s not though, it’s just a very simple tactic I discovered by accident that I’ve now applied to a number of my content pages. It was something that literally did double my Adsense earnings overnight and what’s best, it was something that happened totally by accident.
When Less Content Is More Adsense
It started of when I wrote an article about cold sores and potential cures. I’d just got back from a family holiday to Alcudia in Majorca and was suffering from the worst outbreak of cold sores in my life. I was feeling pretty rubbish, my mouth was killing me and I had to update a website that had been ignored for several weeks. The only thing I could think of writing about was my cold sores and if anybody knew any cures. Of course to make the article slightly more useful I went through all the methods I use to prevent them, old wives tales and more importantly linked to the best resource I could find on the internet. As was my way at the time I put an Adsense channel on the page and forgot about it. Two months later whilst going through some Adsense earnings I could see that my Cold Sore channel was doing ok, about $100 from a single page over 2 months. Cool. Seeing as how it was such a good start I decided that I’d keep an eye on that channel as part of my daily checks for a little while.
About a week later something strange started to happen. The earnings from that page went from $1-$2 a day to more like $5. The amount of traffic hadn’t changed, I couldn’t figure out what was going on. It was then that I ran a link check and found out that the cold sore authority page I had been linking to had been taken down. I don’t know why but the whole website had just gone. But why would that affect my earnings? My guess was that people were finding my page through Google (it was ranked in the top 3 for cold sore cures), in the past they were jumping of to the authority site finding their answers and being happy. Without that link working they were now using my page as a jumping of point for Adsense ads. That’s certainly what the CTR seemed to indicate. As a further experiment I decided to remove some more of the content from that page, just enough to not give any definite answers but still make the page useful. The result was almost instant, from $5 a day to over $8 a day. Eventually as the content became stale the page fell down the rankings and the Adsense income from that page dried up, but whilst it lasted it was a great discovery.
In finding this out I then applied the same technique to several other content pages. I had lots of pages ranked very highly for many phrases. Once a page was established in the rankings it was very easy to just remove a couple of the outbound links and even re-word the page ever so-slightly to make it less of a definite answer to what people were searching for. On every page I tried this I noticed a significant increase in Adsense earnings. It’s a technique I still apply to this day on many of my content websites and it’s still working. The key is to rank your page first and then re-adjust your content for Adsense.

Did you know that statistically speaking you have got more chance of becoming a millionaire by winning a large prize lottery game than you have by trying to make money online? Did you also know that 99% of all statistics are nonsense?
Anyway, a lot of the fuss surrounding DealDotCom related to the great affiliate scheme they were pushing, in fact it’s obvious from looking at John Chow’s stats that there are a lot more affiliates than people buying the products. The main excitement was about earning commissions for the life of your referral, not just 3, 6 or even 12 months. Well I’ve been a member of an affiliate program that offers exactly the same (in this case 10% of whatever your referral spends) for the life of that customer. Not only that but it’s promoting something that we can all use, whether we are internet marketers or not.
MyLotto Affiliate Program
I’m talking about the MyLotto Affiliate program. MyLotto is a very easy sell because it is to my knowledge the only website out there that allows people to play very large jackpot lottery games from all over the world, no matter where you live. Say for example you want to play next weeks £88 Million ($166 Million USD) Euromillions lottery draw but don’t live in Europe, MyLotto can get you a slice of the action. How about Mega Millions in the US but you like in the UK? Not a problem. This is great because some games have much better odds than others, it levels the playing field for people wanting to win their way to wealth no matter where they live. It’s a great service with a great affiliate program that provides a win-win situation. If you’re really good at promoting you’ll also have no trouble getting up to the 12% commission rate. For affiliates outside the US it’s also good that they have various payment options including a wire transfer, if there’s one thing I hate about Kontera and a few others it’s having to try and bank my USD cheques in a UK bank. Not only are the fees extortionate but half the time the bank staff are clueless.
I’ve been a member of the MyLotto affiliate program for a few years now, I wrote one of the top lottery prediction programs available from the net in 2003 and they were soon on my case asking me to sign up. To date I’ve made enough money with MyLotto to pay for a family holiday, they’ve always paid on time and provide enough banners and a good enough product to make promotion easy for any affiliate.

As you might have noticed I’ve been happy to big-up DealDotCom, as I stated earlier in the week they got of to a great start with a couple of quality products, one of which even I bought (And I’m a tough man to please). So it was with a sense of guttedness (is that even a word?) that I logged in this morning to find todays deal of the day being…………a dodgy e-book! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! You know the type, it’s an e-book that will make you mega rich, even better it comes with not just resale rights, but master resale rights. How am I supposed to contain this excitement? Quite easily as it turns out. I’ve been suckered into buying e-books in the past with the inevitable gimmick being that you can then sell the same book onto to any potential suckers customers. I really had high hopes for Deal Dot com but if they’re selling this sort of rubbish in the first week then good luck to them, i’ll still check in from time to time but this is the last time I’ll be mentioning them here unless then do come out with a really remarkable offer. Yes I am fickle.
Just in case you are wondering there is only one e-book I’ve ever bought that has been worth the money and that’s the SEO Book.

I’m getting a hell of a lot of link requests at the moment so I’d like to take this opportunity to state something.
Dear Owner Of Built For Adsense Software Directory,
I couldn’t give a flying monkeys ass that you’ve decided to rip-off my content to create a “no original content” page full of Adsense. Further more if you think for 1 minute that I’m going to link to your shit, no rank, no traffic website (that has ripped my content) all because you send me a pro-forma e-mail telling me how great I am then you’re either stupid or mental. If I wanted my software in your new “cutting edge with nobs on” directory then I would have submitted it, as I didn’t I don’t.
Thank you and have a nice day,
Paul
ps Have I mentioned how much I hate directories and the spam that goes with them????

You might have noticed that I’ve finally got around to adding the Blog Rush widget to The make money online Dot Net. I wasn’t fussed at all by this idea, to be honest showing untargeted links on any page is never likely to get you any traffic. Google spent a lot of time getting their content targeting down to a fine art, if for one minute broad range categories provided the same sort of CTR do you really think they’d have bothered? Not only are you not very likely to get little or no traffic from other websites but there is also the chance that you’ll upset your own visitors by bombarding them with unrelated content.
But in the interests of jumping on board a band-wagon I thought I’d give it a go. I’ll keep it a little out of the way for now until I’m sure that the content it’s showing is relevant. If it starts to generate traffic I’ll keep it.
Cheating Blog Rush
Programs like this are really easy to cheat. Any system that relies on impressions for reward is easy to cheat. It looks like everybody is cheating Blog Rush because even keeping in mind what I said above the click through rates being seen are appalling. Out of the 400 impressions I’ve had not 1 click.
Cheat no1. - Install this Firefox plug-in for Firefox that allows you to refresh a page automatically. Open your blog, or a page with the widget on and let it refresh all day automatically building up credits.
Cheat no2. - Put your widget code in a hidden div or iFrame on every website you own. For people with popular websites it’s a very quick way of building up credits.
Cheat no3. - Refer yourself several accounts. You can even stick the widget from different accounts on the same blog.
I don’t know why anybody would want to cheat the system, lets face it if everybody does it then all of our credits are being used on some hidden iFrame or only being viewed by an auto reloading browser, hence no click through rate. If Blog Rush is to grow then they’ve got to stop these tactics (and the many other cheats) being effective.

So we all know that Google’s latest page rank export is taking forever and a day to complete, fortunately there are a few page rank prediction tools out there that can help. Obviously the accuracy isn’t going to be 100% but from my previous experience I’ve found that on average they tend to be right 9 times out of 10. When you have a brand new website (like this blog) even the prediction tools don’t always work and that is what I was experiencing up until today. Finally I’ve got my predicted page rank and it’s a…….FIVE. Not just a 5 but quite a strong one at a 5.3

If this is true then that’s great news for a blog that has only been around for 2 months. PR is not the be all and end all but straight away this will allow me to monetise in many more ways, reviews, sponsors and links can all come into play. I’m even more excited about Google’s next PR export now!

DealDotCom is still very new, in fact they are only 3 products into their life. In saying that early impressions count for a lot so let’s have a quick look at what they’ve done so far
EasyMember Pro - A good solid launch product which is widely regarding as being one of the very best in the range of “membership management” software suites that are out there. They managed to bring this to joe public at half price. I’m not really that bothered about running a member’s only website so gave it a miss but I believe they sold out!
WP Affiliate Pro - A little plug-in for Wordpress blogs that allows you to quickly install affiliate links throughout your Wordpress posts. It’s not entirely automated (for example you have to source your own affiliate links and create a record for each word you want changing to a link). Once it’s setup it will then turn each instance of that word into an affiliate link. I could see this working really well with Amazons affiliate program so bought in, my very first DealDotCom purchase. The checkout process was relatively simple, I paid with Paypal but the major credit cards are also an option. Overall I was happy with my buy, I’ll be happier still when it pays for itself.
Nicheology Members Site - Full access to a members only website about niche marketing for only $1, well that’s not going to do much for us DealDotCom affiliates is it! I know the ins and outs of niche marketing having being involved for several years. There might be some good stuff in there, but if you think you’re going to make any real money from the same content that thousands of other people have access to then you’re dreaming. First rule of SEO, unique content. I’ll give this one a miss (even at $1) but I’ll be back tomorrow to see what’s on offer.

I’ve been with TrialPay for just under 1 month now. For those of you not in the know it’s an online payment system that allows people to get something from you for free by accepting an offer from somebody else. The somebody else tends to be one of the major online retailers (ebay, Real, Blockbuster etc etc), some of the offers are completely free others require the customer to buy something. When I first found this I thought it would be a great way of earning a little extra money for not much work. I had software that I was already giving away for free all that was required was a slight change in the download process. 1 month down the line and I’m delighted at how great that little change has been.
Some Trends
It went of like a rocket ship and I couldn’t believe how much money I was earning with TrialPay, I was checking stats 2,3 even 4 times a day just to make sure it was real. Of course after about a week things settled down to a more realistic level, realistic being a couple of transactions a day. What has made no sense to me at all is the distribution of customers. I know for a fact that before TrialPay it was about a 50/50 split between the US and Europe of people who downloaded. After TrialPay the split changed to about 90/10 in favour of the US! The biggest loss was in UK visitors, they just weren’t and aren’t prepared to go through a TrialPay checkout process. I’d love for somebody to be able to explain it to me, some American friends have suggested that maybe it’s down to coupons. Americans are well into using their coupons from one thing to get something discounted or for free. In the UK we don’t have much of that so maybe that can explain the difference. Either way I’ve had happy visitors from Spain, France, and Israel all the way to Australia it’s just the Brits that don’t like it!
So in less than a month I’ve made more than $1000 for no extra work and very little inconvenience. Will be interesting to see what the second month brings but in the meantime if you’ve got a product that you currently give away for free then TrialPay is really worth considering.

I’m faced with a bit of a dilemma this morning. Commission Junction have contacted me regarding the rather short “shove it up your ass” e-mail which I sent after they threatened to close my account. Well I say contacted, it’s far more of a sorry we didn’t mean it and we really do value our publishers because that’s where we make all our money sorry sorry sorry type of e-mail. They also explained that they were only acting on the instructions of the advertiser had no idea about the relationship between the advertiser and me and that they’d be more than happy to leave my account (and commission) exactly where it was.
The problem I have is do I back track? Do I say all is well with the world and just carry on as if nothing has happened or do I close the account? My heart says close it, my head says keep it, if only for the e-bay affiliation?
It would also help if I had a way of contacting them, the e-mail was sent from a no-reply address that bounces and none of their messages show in my CJ inbox. I have a feeling that apathy could be the winner here.

It’s official people DealDotCom are not selling rubbish! They’ve kicked of the bargains with EasyMember Pro for $148.50 which normally retails at around the $300 mark. Whilst I’ve read in a couple of places people complaining that maybe it doesn’t have great wide appeal it is a high quality product (my prayers for no more junk e-books have been answered). If you’re considering setting up a members only website (please no more rich jerks) then this is right up there with the best of the bunch. I’m not interested in members websites at the moment so I’m going to give it a miss but I’ll be sure to pop back tomorrow to see what they’ve got up for offer.
Just as an aside I’m also delighted that they didn’t open up with SEO Book the way my luck is at the moment I was sure I was in for a kicking!

I’ve known about the SEO Book for a long time, in fact I use the keyword research tool found on the same website on a regular basis. I guess I’ve been put of buying it in the past for a couple of reasons:-
- As a paid SEO consultant how much can it really teach me?
- Nearly $80 is expensive for any book, let alone an e-book
Faced with a hangover from hell on a miserable Sunday afternoon I decided that a little bit of light reading would be just the order of the day so it was Paypal account to the ready and away we go. Was I impressed, hell yeah!
First, Middle and Last Impressions
I can’t really say this is my first impression because once I’d started I couldn’t stop and I spent 4 hours reading all 331 pages of it in one go! In short it’s brilliant. This is not an e-book written by a professional writer but instead by somebody who obviously knows the ins and outs of SEO, as it stands today. Aaron claims to be earning consultancy fees of $500 an hour, judging by this book it’s no wonder. The great thing is the no nonsense approach to SEO, every consultant worth his or her salt will tell you that for most businesses SEO is a long term process, it’s certainly not a sprint. Of course you can attempt to game the search engines, some much easier than others (Aaron isn’t afraid to let you know where spammy techniques really work) but on the flip side there’s also the good chance that a short term game in one engine will result in long term difficulties with others. This is brutally honest information. You will not find any guaranteed top 3 rankings in 5 days nonsense in this book. It’s all very informative and perhaps even more importantly is current, reading this book for me was like finding a kindred spirit in the world of SEO. It confirmed the knowledge that I thought I knew giving me the extra confidence to just carry on what I’ve been doing for several years now.
Perhaps the most informative part of the book for me was Aarons grasp of page rank, link love, website relationships, whatever you want to call it. You want to know how the search engines really relate one page to another then it’s all here. For even experienced pro’s a thorough read of this section will no doubt either reaffirm your current ideas or perhaps teach you something new. Something else that jumped out at me that I wasn’t expecting is the gold mine of links contained within the book. Everything from useful SEO tools to extra sources of information are all featured at the end of each chapter, no doubt at all there is enough information to keep anybody busy for several days. All of a sudden the $79 price tag is not looking too bad! This only scratches the surface of all the content that the book contains, it’s your all-in-one guide.
So my $79 bought me a book that should really be considered an ultimate guide to legitimate SEO, not only that but some nice extras in the form of interviews with other SEO experts and a couple of tools that Aaron uses. I already have my own favorites but anybody showing a new interest in SEO will find these valuable. When the world of SEO changes again so will the SEO Book and it’s free updates for life. As if this wasn’t good enough there is a 90 day no worries money back guarantee in place. I can hand on heart say that I’ll not be taking advantage of that, I’m more than happy to have paid $79 for the SEO Book
