- Reader JG writes: ... YouTube ads like this fly in the face of everything "relevance" based ...(it) is a complete reversal of everything [Google] ever stood for. A non-relevance-based graphical video overlay? How is that not just a banner ad? And wasn't the whole fire and fury behind Google's rise, Google's takeover of the net, founded on a rejection of the "banner", the DoubleClickian "gaudy and irrelevant", approach to web advertising? Catching Up
It's still hard to type with this splint, but I have been reading what I missed over the past few days, here's what I find worthy:
Ars: Microsoft testing ad supported Office suite.
BB: No fly lists work, really, govt claims, but how is a secret....I love this line of thinking.
Google phone fantasies won't die (Digg)
Om: Answers.com loses 28% of its traffic due to Google moving butt cheek one way or another.
Notes from a lunch with Google's Susan Wojcicki, I was invited but was traveling, Philipp has the story.
I really can't wait to fly Virgin America. (Radar)
Searchable database of tech events, since I know you guys go to a lot of em...(ResearchBuzz)
Ask swaps allegiances - aQuantive over Doubleclick, ie, Microsoft over Google. (NextNet)

That, This, The Other
News and insights I've seen over the past few days:
First, Google hit a new high Friday.
Second, BB on Weinberger on the telcos. Delaminate, baby!
Third, online spending is up again. Another study says so.
Jantsch notes that Intuit has a "follow me home" service to understand its customers better. Great idea.
Ars on Google on MSFT Vista integration. This is not going to go away soon.
Microsoft clears a hurdle to approval of its aQuantive acquisition.
Another Google wall of ideas.
