Thank you for your interest in O'Reilly books.

SafariU

A truly new way to create, customize, publish, and share course materials.

Are you an educator who would like to:
  1. Create your own custom books?
  2. Create online syllabi?
  3. Use learning objects developed by you or your peers when creating custom books or online syllabi?
Then you might be interested in our beta program for SafariU. Find out more.

To receive an exam copy of a book you'd like to consider using in your classroom, or a desk copy of a book you've already adopted, please see our Academic Policy below.

Full tables of contents, indexes, and sample chapters are available for all O'Reilly books.

O'Reilly Academic Policy

Educators in North America may request up to two books per course, per semester at no charge. Examination and desk copies are subject to the approval of our academic sales manager. Books will be sent via ground shipping to a university or school street address. Please allow two to four weeks for delivery.

CD Bookshelf products are excluded from this policy.

If you are an educator outside of North America, see our International Academic Contacts.

How to Request an Exam Copy

Submit your request(s) using the Examination/Desk Copy Request form, and include a staff or department URL for confirmation. Requests may also be made in writing on department letterhead via fax or snail mail. We cannot accept phone requests.

When making your request, please provide information about the course(s) the book will be evaluated for, expected enrollment for each course, and complete contact information (school address, email, phone, office hours, etc.). Please also include an adoption decision date, whether an individual or committee will make the decision, and, if possible, the titles of the texts currently being used in the course. Requests sent with complete information will receive priority.

If you don't receive email confirmation within one day of submitting the form, your request may not have gone through and we may not have received it. If this happens, please re-submit your request until you receive email confirmation.

Desk copies are complimentary upon notification of adoption and are not for resale.

Thank you again for your interest in O'Reilly books.
